IPP-SS115A-BR – SAS 1-to-1 Speed Bridge with Sandbox IP

The IntelliProp IPP-SS115A-BR SAS Bridge with Sandbox design provides SAS compliant connections to a SAS host and a SAS device. The host and device connections are speed independent allowing for speed bridging on the SAS connection. Internal visibility to frame contents allows customers to intercept, analyze or manipulate frames on the SAS connection.

IPP-SS115A-BR SAS 1-to-1 Bridge with Sandbox Applications

The IPP-SS115A-BR is available for integration into ASIC and FPGA designs to provide an industry compliant SAS 3.0, 6.0  and 12.0 Gb/s interface (with speed capable FPGA). The SAS Bridge may be utilized with customer specific algorithms to:

  • Allow encryption of data on the main drive, thereby preventing unauthorized access
  • Offload data from the main drive onto other media without suffering performance loss when accessing the main drive
  • Compress data whereby less space is utilized on the main drive while maintaining high performance

IPP-SS115A-BR SAS 1-to-1 Bridge with Sandbox Features

  • Allows users to intercept data between the SAS Host and Device
  • Fully compliant to SAS Gen-1, Gen-2 and Gen-3 (12GHz) industry specifications.
  • With the correct FPGA, the Bridge is capable of SAS Gen-3 (12GHz)
  • Industry proven and compliant SAS interfaces
  • Automatically performs OOB and speed negotiation
  • Independent speed negotiation on each SAS connection
  • Visibility to all frames allows customers to develop value-added features

Functional Description

The IPP-SS115A-BR is designed to be connected to a SAS-compliant device application and SAS-compliant host PC/Server to send and receive Out of Band (OOB) signals, primitives and SAS Frame Information Structures (FIS). The SAS Speed Bridge core interfaces to the customer sandbox logic with FIFOs for data movement and a Frame Transfer Logic for frame control. This allows for efficient data movement between the cut-through FIFOs and the SAS Cores.
